Ladies and Gentlemen,
I began playing MMORPGs (Online roleplaying games) in 1997. At the time I started, I was in really good shape; as a martial arts instructor, I was very active at the studio, but then a friend showed me Everquest, and my health went down from there. SouthPark did an episode on World of Warcraft that hit way too close to home for me. I remember having a freezer packed with hot pockets and small pizzas and stuff. I would often spend hours playing Everquest (1), with dr. pepper and hot pockets to sustain my online habit.
Of course, my closest friends would make comments about my online play time, how excessive it had become, and I was noticing that I was getting flabby and weak.
Over time I went from about 230lbs (at 6'1") to over 300lbs. The diet of horrible food/drink and essentially sitting around for hours on end took it's toll!!
I wonder how many out there have run into this same problem with the online gaming addiction; for themselves or a loved one, child, or close friend.
